to meet, to know & to miss - exhibited in Art Hispanique, Paris

The first time I went to Paris, I was about 17 years old. I headed off with a school friend, without giving it much thought. I can still remember arriving very late at night at Gare de l’Est, with no idea what to do or how to do it. But we survived, and we thrived, in the magnificent city that it is. We proved the great motto of Paris to be true: “It is tossed by the waves but does not sink.” To return now and show my paintings here is something truly special, and deeply appreciated.

The three paintings are about how the strongest light within a person will shine, despite how cloudy the sky may seem:

To Meet

To Know

To Miss

Good luck to all the other artists, and especially to those who invited me and made this possible. As my favourite Irish writer and former Paris resident, Samuel Beckett, might say:

“Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
